Cumann na mBunscoil

We had a very successful year in 2005/6 in both hurling and football.

In hurling we started off the year by winning the TJ Surlis Shield for Indoor hurling in the Teeling Centre. We then won the 7-a-side Regional Finals and went on to represent Sligo at the provincial finals in Galway. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and had three pupils selected to play at an exhibition game in Croke Park on the day of the All Ireland Semi-Finals- Gary Cadden, Niall Murphy and NiallO’Rourke.

We also got to the final of the 11-a-side competition but were narrowly defeated by Strandhill in the final.

In football we got to the semi-finals of the Mini-7’s and in the 11-a-side competition we won the John Kent Sport Perpetual Cup, overcoming Ballymote in the final.

Well done to everyone involved!

Our 2006/7 Cumann na mBunscoil campaign has started off slowly. So far we have participated in two hurling competitions- the Mini-7’s and the 11-a-side and were narrowly defeated in the finals of both competitions.
Thanks to our coaches: Joe Murphy, Liam Loftus ,Stephen Devaney,Ailish Murphy and Antoinette Burns for their dedication and encouragement.

On Tuesday the 22nd of May 4 people from 5th class went to meet the female and male presidents of the G.A.A in St.Brendans N.S.
