Ransboro National School, Sligo

Last Friday Mr. Quinn asked us to make a sock for our iPod Touch. The reason was to protect the iPods and so they would not get lost on the tables at school. We had to re-use any old clothes or material to make the sock. We came up with lots of different ideas. Some of us used vests, socks, old tracksuits, gloves and some even knitted one. Some of us haven’t finished one yet. Some of us stitched and glued and put cool designs on the sock and put handles on them. It was great fun making them.

Every Thursday 2nd class go swimming in Sligo Sports Complex. We had to be on time for the bus or the other 2nd class would wave us goodbye. We can sit beside anyone we want to on the bus. There are three swimming groups. About a week ag0 we had a swimming exam. We had to do the breast stroke, the front crawl and the backstroke. It was a bit hard but everybody passed their exam. We had a good time. Next week is our last week to go swimming.

On the 15th of June we went to Glendeer Farm in Athlone to see the animals. We were allowed to feed and pet the animals. Thre were lots of animals there, some you have never heard of before. There was a lady there who took us on a tour of the farm. There were lots of animals like emus, monkeys, puppies, ostriches, kittens, wallabies, pigeons, peacocks, goats, Jacob sheep, deer and piglets. We played for a few minutes in the playground on the farm. We then had a snack. Then it was time to go home on the bus. We thought the farm was really good.

Poppy Field by Claude Monet

Two Fridays ago we painted pictures with splat painting. We copied the pictures from the famous artist Claude Monet. There were seven different pictures to pick from. We did not pick the same pictures as everyone else. One picture was of three girls on a boat. Another was a picture of flowers outside in the garden. One was a picture of a harbour. One was a picture of a swimming pool. One was a lady in a dress outside. One was a field of beautiful poppies. One was trees with flowers on them near a river. We really enjoyed painting the Monet pictures because we really like art.
