Dear Parents,

I hope this note finds you all well and looking forward to the mid- term break.

School will close at 3pm this Friday and re-open on Monday November 2nd .

Winter BBQ

The Winter Barbeque was a great success as always, and a wonderful sociable night was had by all with delicious food and entertainment. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Paula and Elmer for organising this night and producing such delicious food for us all. This night has raised over €1,000 euro for our school. We look forward to discussions with Parents Association, Board of Management and staff as to the further development of our school into the future. Sincere thanks to the large number of parents who supported the event by purchasing raffle tickets and coming along on the night. Ní neart go chur le chéile!

Staff Meeting

We are beginning the process of reviewing and updating our Code of Behaviour here in the school. A facilitator from the Primary Professional Development Service will facilitate a staff meeting on code of behaviour on Friday 13th November. The school will be closed to children at 12.30 on this day to facilitate this meeting. We will also be interested to gather some feedback from parents shortly in relation to this review.

Clothes Collection

We will be having a collection of unwanted clothing on Thursday 5th November here in the school. This collection always earns funds for the school. Please bring bags of clothing to the school by Wednesday 4th Nov as they may come to collect the clothes early on Thursday.

Do This In Memory

As many parents are aware, this parish based programme is a preparation programme for the First Holy Communion. It will involve some special Masses throughout the year for the children preparing for First Eucharist and their families. Eileen Sheirdan, a valued member of our Parish Council will hold an initial meeting for parents of First Holy Communion children, here in the school on Wednesday 4th November at 7.30. It is vitally important that each child id represented by at least one parent at this meeting. This programme is very special for the children, and we also involve the school choir in the special Masses. I look forward to meeting you on this night, and Eileen will explain the programme and how you can get involved.

Hallowe’en Fancy Dress

We are inviting all children to come to school in fancy dress costume on Friday! They might have a difficulty recognising some of the teachers also!! We will have an assembly also to show off our costumes!! This will be good fun for all, however if any child feels anxious about dressing up, they do not have to.

Wishing you all a restful break and look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 2nd!!

We are beginning work this week on our christmas cards, which we hope to have printed and back in the school by early December. We will inform you of the price and details shortly, and an order from for the cards will be going home with the children next week, so you can pre-book your cards. These were beautiful last year, so we appeal to parents to buy your cards through the school this year, all funds raised go towards the school.

The annual appeal for shoe boxes is happening again! Please have your shoe boxes back to school by Monday next, as they will be collected. This is a lovely carity involving children helping children.
